Seasonal Commentary

The Abyss followed on from the unnamed exocraft update, intended to be another smaller-scale release. It wasn't until close to launch that we realised it was getting quite substantial, and decided to give it a name, a website, and a trailer. The Abyss expanded underwater gameplay and visual variety with sunken buildings, new underwater biomes, glass base parts for submerged bases, a submarine, and a set of missions to guide players through the new features. We released close to Halloween and leant into the spookier side of the game, populating the bottom of oceans with a number of deep-sea terrors.
