Our Journey Continues

The backbone of No Man's Sky is our custom engine, which we continue to expand and improve with every update.
As well as handling the memory and performance challenges that come with an infinite, procedurally-generated universe running on two generations of consoles, our engine team are constantly pushing graphical limits to make that universe just a little more beautiful.
Some of our rendering improvements come from art team requests, and others are driven from within the engine team itself. In Prisms, we tried to gather and showcase a bunch of graphical improvements all at once: adding things like volumetric lighting, screen-space reflections, and furry creatures. We work on No Man's Sky every day motivated by the technical endeavour as much as that sci-fi fantasy.
