Edit system
Enter your real in-game data. This replaces the generated placeholder for everyone who visits this address, including you if you reload -- there's no undo button on the site itself, but every save is a git commit elegra1965 can revert on GitHub.

Welcome to Galaxy Map
Explore galaxies, inspect systems, and plan routes in this unofficial fan-made tool. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Hello Games.
Generated data and confirmed details
The map generates systems from portal addresses. Generated names, properties, and routes are estimates and may differ from your game. Planet names and procedural Sentinel readings are placeholders, not verified discoveries. Biome, conditions, water, and rings remain unknown or hidden until entered. Check important details in-game and use Edit system to record what you find.
Your edits
Enter the names and details you have observed in-game. Your entries are stored with your map; they are not checked against the game’s discovery service or published to other visitors. Some labels still say “Community edited”; here, they identify saved manual entries. Use Report to record a problem with a system. Reports are stored privately; there is no public voting or automatic review service.
Your map and saved progress
Bookmarks, waypoints, notes, and saved routes are stored in this browser and synced to the site when available. Access is linked to this browser, not a user account. Another browser or device will not automatically share your progress, and clearing site data can remove access. Use Export logs to keep a portable backup and Import logs to restore it.
Getting started
Choose a galaxy, then enter a portal address or use Glyphs. Random chooses a starting destination. The map’s initial position is not your character’s location. After you travel to a destination, this browser remembers your last map position.
Moving around
Galaxy shows the wider map; Local shows nearby systems. Select a system to inspect it, then enter it to explore its planets. Orbit lets you drag around the current focus and scroll to zoom. Camera enables free flight. Pause spin stops automatic galaxy rotation without locking the camera.
Search and filters
Use Search to find saved or documented places by name or traits. Leave the search empty to browse your recorded locations. Scan searches generated systems around your current position, within the chosen radius. Results inherit the limitations of generated data. Local filters only narrow the systems currently displayed; they do not search the whole galaxy. A portal address lets you go directly to a known destination.
Planning a route
Set your hyperdrive type and range in Filters before plotting. Selecting a destination can replace the current course. The route follows generated star systems and shows its stops in the Warp Manifest; it is not a guarantee of in-game reachability. Red indicates a destination your selected drive cannot reach. Routes use connected lines, with markers for intermediate stops.
Saving and following routes
Use Save Route to keep a course in Routes, or Copy Link to share that route. Plan Journey opens the journey planner with your plotted itinerary. The planner includes experimental behavior, particularly around black-hole detours, so verify each step in-game. Return using Back to Map or View Map.
Galactic Atlas landmarks
The Atlas overlay shows a bundled selection of landmarks from the official Galactic Atlas. These markers are available in Euclid only and may not include recent additions. Select a marker to open its Atlas page.
Recording your discoveries
Use Edit system to add observed planet details, station information, alliances, and signal markers. These are manual records, not live readings from your game. Optional screenshots are resized before saving. Images attached to edits or notes can be synced with your private map data.
Importing a save
The save importer reads a supported .hg file in your browser; the raw file is not uploaded. It can extract your in-game name and base records. Records you choose to import are sent to this site for storage with your map. Importing does not verify or fill every system and planet detail.
Making room
Drag supported panels by their headers and collapse them when you need more space. Use the arrow at the top to reveal the site navigation. Accessibility settings and read-aloud controls can help make the map easier to use.
Feedback
Use Send feedback to save a bug report or suggestion with your private map records. This does not send an email or create a public support ticket.

Set your hyperdrive class
Course plotting defaults to a Standard hyperdrive, Basic range (101 LY) -- what every save starts with (confirmed against the NMS wiki: the unupgraded base range is exactly 101 LY, not a round 100). If you've upgraded your ship (Cadmium/Emeril/Indium/Atlantid drives, an S-class engine, a freighter, etc.) set your real drive type and range here, or Enter system / Jump to will warn you that a star's colour is out of reach.
Change it any time
Filters → Hyperdrive button (also sets your drive TYPE now -- see below).
Import from my save file
Your save file never leaves this device -- it's read and decoded entirely by your own browser, right here on this page. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you choose to import your real base names below, and even then only the base name(s) + system address are sent, never anything else from your save.
This only pulls in base names (and your in-game username, if found) -- that's genuinely all a save file exposes about your bases. Everything else a system can show -- flora, fauna, minerals, resources, sentinel activity, biome, rings, moons, and so on -- still needs typing in by hand via Edit system, same as always.
Where do I find this file?
A website can't open a file picker straight to a folder for you -- that's a browser security restriction, not something this site can work around -- so the dialog opens wherever your OS last left it. Most file pickers let you paste a full path into their own address/location bar to jump straight there.
Steam or GOG (Windows):%APPDATA%\HelloGames\NMS\st_<your Steam ID>\ -- paste %APPDATA%\HelloGames\NMS into the picker's address bar, then open the one folder inside it. Pick save.hg (or save2.hg/save3.hg etc for another slot -- if unsure which is current, sort the folder by "Date modified" and pick the newest one). Ignore any file starting with mf_, those are manifests, not the save itself.
Microsoft Store / Xbox Game Pass (Windows): not currently supported -- that version stores saves in a different, encrypted format this tool can't read yet. Manual entry via the form above is the only option for now.
PS4/PS5/Xbox console: saves normally live on the console itself, with no simple way to get a plain file out of a browser -- manual entry via the form above is the only option there. Exception: if you've linked your account at cloud.nomanssky.com for cross-save, you can download that cloud save onto a PC copy of the game (Steam or GOG) from the in-game Cross-Save Manager -- once it's local on your PC, the Steam/GOG path above applies to it like any other save.
Reading your save file...
Your in-game name
Friend codes aren't stored in a save file at all (they're a platform/account thing, not game data) -- you'll still need to type yours in above if you want it shown.
Real bases found in your save
Real system names found in your save
From systems you've actually renamed in-game (Discoveries screen) -- only fills in the system's name if nobody's documented it yet, never overwrites an existing one.
Real planet names found in your save
Real planets you've renamed in-game, matched to the exact body slot in that system. Only sets the name -- biome/resources/everything else stays whatever's already there (procedural, or someone else's own documentation).
All of this gets added to the shared community map, same as typing it into this form one at a time, just all at once. Anything already documented by you or another traveller is merged in (or, for names, only fills a blank slot) -- nothing existing is ever clobbered.
